Heather Locklear has been hospitalized for an emergency psychiatric evaluation after allegedly physically attacking her mother and threatening to shoot herself, according to TMZ.

The incident took place on Sunday afternoon. A source close to Heather Locklear allegedly claimed that the 56-year-old "Melrose Place" star appeared very agitated most of the day. Her parents grew increasingly concerned for their daughter and went over to her Los Angeles home to check on her. Upon their arrival, they found Heather Locklear angry and out of sorts. Locklear's disposition quickly escalated.

She allegedly then became violent, physically attacking them.

People Magazine reports, when the actresses' mom finally broke away from her enraged daughter, a family member called the police. The Ventura County Fire and Sheriff’s Departments quickly arrived on the scene and Heather Locklear was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for a psych evaluation.

People cited, "audio of the dispatch obtained by the outlet said the 56-year-old actress was “agitated and violent.”

As previously reported by CNN, Heather Locklear was arrested back in February for felony domestic violence against her boyfriend, Chris Heisser. Locklear also became argumentative and physical with police officers on the scene.

Locklear has been battling depression and addiction for more than 10years, spawning more than half a dozen unsuccessful rehab stints, an arrest record, and a number of failed marriages and relationships.

Locklear has one daughter, 20-year-old Ava Sambora, with ex-husband and former Bon Jovi guitarist, Richie Sambora. During Locklear's arrest in February, Ava sadly, witnessed her mother's bizarre behavior first hand.

She was allegedly so traumatized by her mom's actions that it caused a strain on their relationship.

The actress had a last rehab stint that ended in April following her arrest for felony domestic violence. It is also unknown at this time what steps will be taken to help the troubled actress.

Of this new incident, Capt. Kuredjian of the Sheriff's Office would not confirm too many specifics but he said they had got a call from a location and mentioned, "the subject was not armed" and that “there was no criminal activity. The person was not arrested,” according to People TV Watch.
