Esteban Ocon lascerà il team Haas al termine della stagione 2026 di Formula 1. La conferma ufficiale è giunta il 30 settembre 2026, dopo che il pilota francese aveva già lasciato intendere, nel fine settimana del Gran Premio d'Azerbaijan, di essere un free agent. Questa separazione concluderà un rapporto durato due anni con la scuderia statunitense, ma Ocon ha tenuto a precisare che non considera affatto concluso il suo percorso nel massimo campionato automobilistico.
La posizione di Ocon
Ocon, pilota di 30 anni con una carriera che conta 195 partenze in Formula 1, ha comunicato pubblicamente la sua decisione.
Con una dichiarazione chiara, ha affermato: "My time with Haas F1 Team will come to an end at the end of the 2026 season".
Il francese ha poi espresso il suo orgoglio per il lavoro svolto: "I leave this project with my head held high and proud of my performances in what were not always the easiest of circumstances for various reasons and factors outside of my control". Ha sottolineato di aver dato il massimo anche in condizioni non sempre favorevoli.
L'attenzione del pilota è ora rivolta alle prossime sfide in pista: "My immediate focus is the next race weekend. I will continue to work hard with the team, maximize every opportunity, and keep extracting every bit of performance from the car. There are still many races to go this season and, as always, I will give it my everything behind the wheel for myself and for my team".
La sua determinazione è inequivocabile: "I am still motivated. I am still hungry. This is absolutely not the end of my Formula 1 career". Un messaggio forte che ribadisce la sua volontà di continuare a competere ai massimi livelli.
Il saluto della Haas
Anche la Haas ha confermato la separazione a fine anno, tramite il team principal Ayao Komatsu. Quest'ultimo ha ringraziato Ocon per il suo prezioso contributo sin dal suo arrivo nel 2025: "I'd like to thank Esteban for everything he's contributed to the team since joining us in 2025. His professionalism and commitment have proved valuable as we continue to grow as an organization".
Komatsu ha evidenziato in particolare il contributo tecnico del pilota nello sviluppo della vettura: "Together this year we tackled the challenge of a major regulation change, where Esteban's driving experience and inputs were significant as we've worked hard to develop the VF-26 across the season.
There's still plenty of racing ahead, and our focus remains on working together to maximize every opportunity through to the final race of the year".
Per quanto riguarda il futuro sedile Haas per la stagione 2027, Rafael Camara è tra i nomi più quotati, sebbene altri profili siano ancora in fase di valutazione da parte della scuderia.
